One of the best teachers in life is death.

The real question here is: are you going to live your life waiting until the last moment to learn everything death has to teach you or are you going to start truly living right now?

A wise person understands that not one breath we take is guaranteed. At any moment, we could exhale and not ever take another inhale.

Now this is going to sound strange but bear with me here. Any time you are struggling with something, think of death.

Let’s say that you want to go scuba diving but you’re scared to go because you think you could die, you could drown down there, you could get the BENDS and die on the surface, or you could ascend too quickly and over-expand your lungs.

You see, all of these things could happen, they are all ways to die. However, all of these things are statistically unlikely to actually happen to you.

The reality is we are all going to die someday, some way.

It should not take death to challenge you to live at your highest level, to live freely and to live without fear.

Why fear death, when it is inevitable for all of us?

Don’t you want to live at the highest level every single day while you are alive, knowing that you could always be one breath away from your life ceasing existence?

Death should not be a morbid thought but rather a beautiful thought.

Use the understanding of the inevitability of death as an inspiration to live each and every moment that passes as if it were your very last, because one day, one moment, when you least expect it, it actually will be.

I once had a dear friend who was 28 years old when he was diagnosed with stage 4 brain cancer. The tumor was inoperable. He was told he had about 3 months left to live and they were right— 3 months he lived before passing on.

What if this were you?

Take a moment and imagine that you were told you were going to die in 3 months.

Imagine you were going to die in 1 month.

In 1 week.

In 1 day.

How would your priorities change?

How would your interactions with others change?

Would you smile more?

Would you argue less?

Would you care less what people think of you?

Would you slow down and admire the beauty that surrounds you rather than just going through the motions of the day, completely rushed and oblivious to the rainbow above you?

Would you embrace the feeling of the rain on your skin, knowing it’s the last time you’ll feel its sensation?

Wouldn’t your fears of all the things you wanted to do someday, melt away?

Wouldn’t you go scuba diving then?

Swim with sharks?

Go sky diving?

If your answer to all of these is yes, then why wait?

There once was yogi who said that every moment of his life he felt as though a sword were suspended above his head by a spiderweb. He lived his life with the awareness that he was that close to death.

What an incredible way to think. What an incredible way to live. I am that close to death every single moment. You are that close to death every single moment.

Know that whatever you’re doing in this present moment, someone was once doing that when they took their last breath.

Don’t you want to truly live before death steals the last breath from your lungs?

Most of us won’t get a warning like my friend did, very few of us do.

So, why don’t you start living fully present in this current moment without being afraid of what could happen in the next moment?

I promise you, when you start living fully present in the moment without fear of what could happen, it is then that you will truly realize how precious life is.

You see, we have a scarce amount of time on this planet.

Scarcity is what makes things in life and life itself so precious.

Think about it.. It’s scarcity that makes a rock become a rare, treasured, expensive gem.

We are going to blink and be 85 years old.

So my question to you is this:

Why not let every single moment fill you with complete happiness?

Why fear anything when death is inevitable for all of us?

Why not let every single thing that happens in your life touch you to the depths of your being, to the depths of your soul?

My dear friends, do not fear death.

Do not let the fear of death cause you to live a crippling life of fear.

Let death free you.

Let death be the fuel that sparks your passions and your desires in this life.

Let this knowledge I’ve shared with you today help you live every single moment of your life fearlessly and fully, because every single second matters.

Live your life with a racing heart.

Live your life appreciating the joys in the small stuff every single day.

Live each moment of your life as if it were your last, because some day, it actually will be.
